SIX Easy Steps to Visioning Your Success

This is an easy, straight forward approach to visioning your success.

1.    What does success mean to you? (Personally and professionally)
It's looking forward and figuring out what you want in life.  When you look back on your life one day, what do you want to have accomplished? What do you want to leave as your legacy, personally and professionally?

Make a list of what YOU want. For some it may be: getting a new job, losing 10 pounds, buying a second home, having a long term relationship and for others it may be: making more money, building a business or charity, re-igniting passion in your marriage. The list goes on and on.

2.    Where are you in your life, right now?
It's important that you understand and explore where you are currently, and where you want to be in the future. Here are some good questions to ask yourself:
  • What are you wanting more of or less of in your life?
  • If your life was as good as it could possibly be, what would it look like?
  • When you are at your best, who are you being?
  • If you could make any changes in your life or in the world what would they be?
  • What are your core values at this point in your life?
3.    Make Your Vision Your Reality
Prioritize your goals- When you created your vision you wrote down many thoughts and goals. Some are long-term, and some you can begin to focus on immediately. The key now is to prioritize what's most important. Ask yourself, "What do I want to work on now?"
  • Make sure you create SMART goals!  Clearly define your goals in detail using the SMART model. Ask yourself if your goal is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely?
  • Take action - It is now time to take action. Action is habitual. You are either in the habit of action or inaction.
  • Visualize what you want - Discovering, writing and planning your vision is one thing, but visualizing it is everything.
  • Believe! It's one thing to dream it, and it's another thing to believe it can be so.
  • Don't give up: "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!" It's a choice.
4.    Make sure you succeed!
However, since your goal is to succeed, you need to have a well-conceived plan, put that plan into action, and resolve not to give up. Consider:
  • What do I need to do to get started?
  • What is likely to distract me? What might take my time, energy and effort away from achieving my goals? What can I do to prevent these things from holding me back?
  • Who do I know that has had similar success, and what did they do to get there?
  • When do I want to achieve my vision?
  • Who can help support me and hold me accountable?
5.    The Power of Your Words, Thoughts and Beliefs
  • Control your thoughts
  • Watch your words
  • Say it "IS" so
  • Get a witness - Regularly share the progress you're making toward the accomplishment of your vision
  • Power of belief- the famous author Napoleon Hill is quoted as saying, "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.“
6.    Build Resiliency
  • While it's true that we always want to focus our attention on those things that are positive, we also need to prepare ourselves to deal with temporary setbacks when they occur and continue moving forward toward our goals.
  • Its very important to be aware of your fears! Make a list of your fears. Get really honest with yourself about these- all of them.
  • Failure is a very basic fact of life. At some time or another, everybody is going to fail. Even the most successful people have fallen short or haven't accomplished what they set out to do - at least the first time around. Failure is not a curse, it is a learning experience!
be empowered. be extraordinary. live now.
